It conncets to your 12v cranking battery and once your boat engines alternator charges up your cranking to a certain voltage the Quantum Charge activates automatically and starts converting the charge current coming from your boats engine up to 36v to charge your 36v battery bank. It has a very simple install, it is lightweight, and small in size so that it doesn't take up much space in the back of your boat! Marine grade waterproof! The Quantum Charge features low votlage, over temp, and over voltage protection built in.
